



The dialup connection business of CERNET (the China Education and Research Network) mainly consists of Internet dialup connections and calling card connection services operated in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Nanjing, Xi’an, Tianjin, Wuhan, Chengdu, Chongqing and Shengzhen. CERNET also developed a series of value-added services based on dialup connections, such as international roaming, remote education, online games and campus dialup connection solutions.


China Telecommunications Corporation is the biggest state-owned organization that was formed as a result of the reformation of China’s telecom industry. As the leader in telecom and network services, China Telecom owns the largest global fixed-line telephone network that covers the cities and towns as well as the rural areas of China and penetrates into every corner of the world. Member units of China Telecom include 31 provincial (municipal and autonomous regional) enterprises, which provide telecom services nationwide.


China Mobile Communications Corporation was established in April 2000 with CNY 51.8 billion registered capital and more than CNY 400 billion assets. It fully holds the equity of China Mobile (HK) Group Limited. China Mobile Limited, of which China Mobile (HK) Group Limited is the major shareholder, has wholly owned subsidiaries in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) in China and went public on the Hong Kong and New York Stock Exchanges. Currently, in terms of its market value, China Mobile Limited is the largest organization among all the overseas listed Chinese companies and all the telecom carriers in Asia.


China Unicom was established upon the approval of the State Council on July 19, 1994. With branches across more than 300 cities in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), it is one of the large-scale state-owned backbone enterprises directly under the administration of the central government. Presently, China Unicom is uniquely positioned as the only telecom company in China listed in three stock exchanges (NYSE, Hong Kong and Shanghai), and is under the supervision of domestic and international security supervision institutions and investors. The Beijing branch of China Unicom is responsible for the construction and operation of the telecommunications network in the Beijing area.
